I am currently researching the history of drawings from the Early to Late Reinaissance. To prepare for a painting or sculpture, artists first drew quick sketches on paper — composing general ideas rather than focused on the details. “This exploratory type of drawing offers a vivid and intimate glimpse of the artist creatively thinking on paper.” [cit]
I started applying this to technique to structural and tactile fired clay surface — I bring the element of sketching into pottery decoration.
